Woven Structures

Woven Structures is my contribution to Constructing Futures, an exhibition on the future of construction and the built environment — robotics, additive manufacturing, computational design, and AI — staged in Detroit, the birthplace of industrial robotics and mass production.

The work is an AI-generated speculation on a new architectural tectonic: monumental, porous structures imagined as a continuous woven fabric, where structure, light, and space are negotiated through a fibrous, cellular lattice rather than solid mass. Produced through AI-driven design methods, the images envision these woven megastructures at architectural and urban scale — their apertures and densities distributed for structural performance and environmental exchange.

Equally central is how such forms come into being. The work depicts robotic fabrication as the means of construction, with robotic arms and autonomous machinery weaving and assembling the structures on site — positioning AI not only as a generator of form but as a partner in its material realization. In this way, Woven Structures extends my research into performative, ecologically attuned design ecologies, where algorithmic intelligence and robotic construction converge to reimagine how we might build.
